Thanks for posting this up. I am a Malaysian who spent her last 10 years in the USA. My recent trip to Borneo in January opened my eyes on the severity of deforestation for oil palm plantations. I could not believe that within a short time span, beautiful lush green rainforest was cut down to make way for monotonic oil palm trees. People of the land, wild animals and birds also lost their livelihood and habitat! I felt sorry to see people of the land did not benefit from the "development" and frustrated to see nothing is being done to stop the deforestation for the sake of "development" and restore what was taken away.
Being an avid nature person, I envy what the USA has done to preserve and conserve its lands and natural parks. We need to do something about this. We cannot allow corporate and government leaders to continue and make ill decisions for the future of our rainforest. Please help. I'm glad RAN takes notice!
