The Yes Men – the same folks who have posed as corporate and government hacks to announce Dow’s apology for the Bhopal chemical spill and to admit the failure of HUD’s reconstruction efforts in New Orleans – have just launched a new website as part of a national climate justice nonviolent civil disobedience pledge campaign.

The goal of the website is to create an international network of people willing to commit civil disobedience to prevent climate change. And given that the Mobilization for Climate Justice – which will coincide with the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen – is happening five months from today, now is the time to get involved in taking direct action to stop climate change.
Sign up today! (And if civil disobedience isn’t really your thing, you can always help out by buying an action offset to help other people get trained, or pay bail.)

um.. this will accomplish nothing and only hinder any future efforts to clean up our world.. the last thing we need is random acts of stupidity..
remove the carbon tax inititive.. this is something curropt governments are using to impose higher taxes on already over taxed people.. carbon taxes will be everyones burden if it is passed… carbon taxes are not the answer.. And my above comment i dont want to be taken wrong. just make sure that what you do isnt completely random.. but well planned with a definate goal in mind.. one easily obtained without hurting anyone.. getting arrested is a bad idea.. dont you know they they make money off each arrest? each person booked in?
And most of the time its our tax dollars that pay them!
a good idea: prevent the contstuction of “nu-coal” plants..all of them.. to gain momentum.. then the older ones, cause we dont need coal.. but also keep in mind.. when you shut these places down.. you are taking the jobs of hard working honest american citizens.. Where are they gonna find work? that pays what coal mineing did.. or better?
Well, I already got arrested, at an earlier action at the same site…and my fines will be paid by jail time, or by myself–the claim that tax dollars pay it is false. The idea that we should be well-organized rather than random I enthusiastically support, but I don’t see Paul making alternative suggestions. As for the statement that we mustn’t threaten the jobs of the honest, hardworking coal miners, are all Americans honest and hard-working, or only those who drive heavy equipment and destroy mountains, claiming they’re improving on the natural mountains, making $70,000 a year with a high-school education (while I made $20,000 at my last job with a required college degree). Sure, they’ll fight for these jobs, but the trouble is, they have kids. And if we’re going to decide that the convenience and wealth of the current generation are all that matters, then we really need to stop reproducing, because the world we’re creating will be a nightmare to live on in 50 years; our grandchildren will be struggling to survive, and cursing us with their every breath.
read the site on carbon tax, paul, before repeating Democratic Party talking points about carbon tax.

great comparisons at the site between carbon tax and what the Democrats like and the Republicans (pretend to) hate: cap-and-trade.
Hey! Someone in my Myspace group shared this website with us so I came to take a look. I’m definitely enjoying the information. I’m bookmarking and will be tweeting this to my followers! Fantastic blog and brilliant design.
