'make an immediate transition to renewable energies', Ha! are u kidding me. coal companies invest lots of money in making coal cleaner. It's def. better than it was. many also own nuclear plants and wind farms. the tech. for wind is improving but expensive and it has lots of opposition. I do know enough, since I work for a coal utility. If you don't like using your washing machine, having heat, listening to the radio, taking a hot shower, that's fine, live in a tent and leave the electricity to me, I'll use it, but I'll also turn the light off when I leave the room.

Coal is used to generated about 60% of our nation's thirst for electrcity. I'd say join this protest if you are willing to reduce 60% of your electric consumption - both work and home.
