Nice article, so let’s get on with this transformation then. We’ve been chatting about this as a country since I was in grade school and I am now, eeek 41 years old. About 7 years ago I stopped driving altogether because of health reasons. I’m an artist/dancer who injured her head in a car accident and started experiencing seizures, quite the ride all by itself. Anyway, I initially saw this as a sacrifice; I now see it as a blessing. I LOVE NOT DRIVING! The amount of money I’ve saved can’t even be calculated. The time I spend each day stressed and anxious reduced by at least half. I use to hate waiting for the bus; I now love it! It’s just a little “me” time with a good book or some good music, and choreography doesn’t get much better than what you see coming on and off buses, (better with the right music accompaniment in your ear). So let’s get on with public transit already. That most major cities in this country still don’t have intercity subway systems or light rail is RIDICULOUS!!!. Nobody should be driving anywhere in a city. Yes, electric cars, but how about NO CARS?! Just some thoughts.
