RAN’s Triple Crown
It’s a busy week for us here at RAN. We’re still recovering from our awesome fete in New York this weekend, hosted by Chris Noth. At the same time, we’re prepping for a Triple Crown of campaign activity.
Our fearless Freedom From Oil campaign will be hitting the Los Angeles Auto Show to ask the auto companies why they can’t seem to mass produce plug-in hybrids–the most environmentally sound vehicle technology available–when we can convert a Prius in a couple hours.
Also in L.A., our Old Growth Campaign is going to hit a builders show to take polite objection to the fact that our friends at Weyerhaeuser–you know, the ones who are clear-cutting the traditional territory of the Grassy Narrows First Nation despite repeated and vocal objections from the community–landed themselves a plum spot in the “green pavilion.”
Our Global Finance Campaign is organizing National Days of Action at the end of the week. They’re expecting hundreds of activists to show up at Citi and Bank of America branches around the country, demanding that the companies take their money out of coal and put it into renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
We don’t think we’re asking too much of any of these companies, but it takes some leg work to get them to listen. We hope you’ll stay tuned.

Attended the LA Auto Show Event Day 1 today and it truly was a great experience! I really want to encourage everyone to take a moment and come out to support us tomorrow at the LA Auto Show, even if its just for a short while. The more we can show the automakers that people care, the better off we are. Remember, you can make a difference and I was shown that today! Hope to see many of you out tomorrow for the event and for the National Days of Action! Feel free to ask your representative or even a RAN staff member about anything you have questions in! Fight on everybody!
