Well, not really. But I found this fantastic old trailer for the 1989 thriller “INDIO” about a ex-Marine half-native who comes back to the Amazonian rainforest to save it from development by a corporation headed up by an ex-Army Colonel. Yes, the plot is that thick.
Some of us here in the office wished we could say that our Protect-An-Acre funds went to such dramatic causes as inserting pro-biodiversity, rainforest-loving ex-Marines into ecologically threatened areas to fend off deforestation, but alas, we cannot. Often, it feels like such action may be the best option to beating back corporate takeover of indigenous lands. Obviously, we can’t endorse any such activity. All I’m saying is sometimes I wish I was the guy Brian Dennehy is chasing.
After a lifetime on the East Coast and getting stuck in the Midwestern suburbs of Chicago and northern Michigan I'm finally on the West Coast in the always cool and never hot city of San Francisco.
Japhet worked for various outdoor organizations before becoming a member of Howard Dean's webteam (a lowly online organizer) in Burlington, Vermont. Afterwards, he continued his election work with America Coming Together in Madison, Wisconsin where he helped increase voter turnout to the highest in state history.
Now, coming back to this environmental and corporate ethics roots, Japhet is excited to put his skills to use for Rainforest Action Network.
