The astounding thing about this is that 5 years ago no one in Washington, D.C. would even mention global warming or climate change. Now, Barbara Boxer is asking the world what solutions to the problem matter most. The not-so astounding thing about this is that it smacks of “we here in D.C. can only do so much, so pick one of these solutions and the rest we chuck out the back.”

Why do we have to rank these as if they aren’t all possible? Why are we being asked to choose one, if all of them are vitally important to stopping global warming? I admire Boxer’s desire to hear our voice and allow us to vote, but ranking these is tough — to me they are all important and necessary in the fight to curb global warming.

But Boxer’s on the right track. I just wish she could make all of these items a part of her global warming agenda. Go rank your favorites.

  1. I agree that we must attack the problem of global warming from many angles at once. In addition to a multi-pronged attack at the federal level, we need to work with state and local governments to reduce emissions. Please, anyone, check out the websit of the Oregon Cities Climate Solutions Network, http://www.occsn.blogspot.com, which is trying to do just that.
