NOW magazine, Toronto’s weekly rag since 1981 chock full of vibrant local issues, personalities and entertainment to-dos, recently posted their “Highs of 2006.” The struggle in Grassy Narrows made the list at #6 for the longest-running anti-logging campaign in Canadian history.

The crap hit the fan on logging industry greenwash over the holidays and we’re tickled pink they got caught red-handed.
Friends of RAN filed challenges in two states last month against environmental claims made by Weyerhaeuser and Plum Creek Timber under the industry-based Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).

Dallas-based energy company TXU Inc, is utterly committed to global warming. So committed in fact, that they’re willing to build 11 new coal-fired power plants in Texas over the next 6 years that will spew forth over 78 million tons of carbon each year.
