For the first time in history a group of mostly male politicans asked a collection of young women in corsets and fishnet stockings to leave the room.
A saloon-style striptease, complete with corsets and balloons, at an Australian government-sponsored conference on global warming left some scientists hot and bothered and the organizers in boiling water.The show was cut short and organizers issued an apology after some delegates at the Australia and New Zealand Climate Forum’s dinner in Canberra walked out in disgust at what was intended as a lighthearted break from the weighty business of rising temperatures.
Does it seem like the mostly Conservative group of folks were looking for ANY way out of a conversation about global warming? I’m all for seeing an open door and going through it but this is kind of ridiculous. So much for making science fun. Apparently these folks want to keep it serious and boring.

Surely there are better way to entertain then the same old representations of women as whores. The Austrialians sorry to say, being half of one, are really very well.. Ugh.. Not so modern or versed in gender equality to put it lightly. Climent change is a real topic and should be met with the weight and dignity such a discussion demands. The entire description of the event seems kind of sad and lame honsetly, and well makes the left look like we are a bunch of Annie Sprinkle strap on wearing loonies.. While we may do all those “empowering” things in our off hours, why bring them into a serious acedemic environment? We can do better.
