Thats right folks…the ANWR debate is up again, this time in the Senate. Its been tagged onto a huge defense bill and is being recommended as an issue of national defense by Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). Well, if by “defense” he means huge cash federal and corporate cash flows into his home state. Right now they only have 56 votes in favor (Frist went from Yea to Nay about an hour ago) and they need 60 to pass it. Let’s hope they don’t get any closer to 60.
The Hartford Courant has a decent piece on where we’re at and whats going down.
UPDATE: Senate votes against cloture. No drilling for now – but it remains open for debate in the coming months.
