WRI Debates CEI on E&E
World Resources Institute’s John Sohn debated Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Marlo Lewis on the recent JP Morgan Chase Environmental Policy. Lewis states that RAN’s pressure on JP Morgan Chase is hurting poorer countries that, “require the investment of corporations and banks” in order to help progress their lifestyles. Sohn debunks the idea and states that “the suggestion that these policies somehow get in the way of economic development in developing countries is really off-base.” Sohn goes on to say:
“Actually what these policies do when you get down to climate change and carbon issues is that they are more reflective of whats in the framework convention on climate change which the United States, India, China, Brazil and the rest of the key developing countries have all signed on to.”
Needless to say Lewis fails to defend his stance with any sort of substance outside of his own opinion. Whats worse? He calls RAN the “Rainbow Action Network” and has to be corrected by the moderator and Sohn. My dad always taught me that “if you’re gonna hurl accusations at someone, make sure you know all about them because they probably know all about you and could make you look silly if you’re not careful.” Checkout the clip here.

Woth noting is that ExxonMobil is bankrolling CEI–$1,465,000 since 1998. See more on Marlo’s stellar credentials from Exxon Secrets here: http://www.exxonsecrets.org/html/personfactsheet.php?id=338#src1
